Shakespeare for Schools (up to Year 8)

Although you may have heard of us and even booked one of our shows you may not know that Bitesize is Famous for its Shakespeare Productions for schools. And we are touring with an introduction to the works of William Shakespeare for Primary Schools very soon. Although the curriculum emphasis of this piece is year 5 up to year 8, but we have found from over many years of Shakespeare performances that infant children are spellbound hearing the poetry and rhythm of Shakespeare's words and so it is a worthwhile experience for the whole school.

Where There's A Will, There's A Play

An informative and entertaining, rollicking romp through Shakespearean times.
Introducing the works of William Shakespeare in a historical context.
Cross-curriculum English/Humanities/Drama
The year is 1615 and King James is on the throne. In an enclosed Inn Yard somewhere in middle England, the 11 strong touring company of "Bishop Carey's Men" are scheduled to give a performance of William Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice". But unfortunately most of them get arrested, leaving only three; Henry, Cedric and Edmund, to entertain the gathered audience. Undeterred our intrepid heroes decide to perform extracts from Shakespeare's most popular plays; Macbeth, Dream, R&J, Tempest, &c (with a little help from the audience when required); between which we hear about their lives under the Tudors and Stuarts. After the show the audience are invited to ask questions about Shakespeare's works and times. The show lasts 1¼ hours including Q&A.

Summer Schools 2013

Summer Holidays! Great? Six weeks off and nothing to do?
Mum and Dad working ? Nowhere to go ?

Then why not join one of our week long Summer Schools.
We are running THREE this summer.

Get the chance to:
~ make new friends!
~ spend 5 mornings in classes !
~ work with professional actors and directors !
~ work with professional dancers and musicians !
~ spend 5 afternoons rehearsing a show !
~ perform the show on the Friday Evening for Family & Friends!

Summer Schools are open to children between the ages of 5 & 16 within travelling of the Wrexham area.

Like School Staff, all of our tutors are checked by the CRB, under the Protection of Children Act for working with children.

Still the same LOW PRICE as 2011 & 2012
Costs only £100 per child for each 5 day course.
(Equates to £3.08 per hour. Discounts available for more than one course & siblings)

Wrexham Children's University Everyone attending will earn credits for the Wrexham Children's University.

Weekly classes in all aspects of Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre.
Our team of professional Directors, Choreographers, Teachers and Actors will teach a range of skills and performance techniques including acting, dancing, singing, improvisation, circus skills, slapstick and even Shakespeare. Workshops available for youth groups, clubs and schools.

Opportunities to participate in Professional performances.
Performance courses each school holiday.
All staff experienced professionals vetted in accordance with child protection laws.

We also offer the opportunity for children and adults to study BTEC Performing Arts with us at Bitesize.

For ages 13-16
A one-year course to achieve BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in Performing Arts (Performance) equivalent to 360 guided learning hours and 4 GCSE's.
The course offers the opportunity for Bitesize Youth Theatre members to combine regular weekly classes in Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre and Casting; with the Production of "Oklahoma!" and some additional classes, rehearsals and tutorials to achieve accreditation equivalent to 4 GCSE's.

For 16+
A two-year course to achieve a BTEC First Certificate in Performing Arts equivalent to 180 guided learning hours over the two years and 2 GCSE's.
The course offers the opportunity for Adults to combine our regular weekly class in Musical Theatre with helping with our annual Musical Performances and some additional classes, rehearsals and tutorials to achieve accreditation equivalent to 2 GCSE's.

London College Of Music Exams We also offer training for LONDON COLLEGE OF MUSIC
Musical Theatre and Drama exams.

Ambitions DanceThe Ambitions Dance Centre is also based at the BITESIZE HQ in Rhosddu Wrexham.
Ambitions Dance School hold ISTD Dance EXAM classes in Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Musical Theatre and Tap Dance catering for a range of different age groups and abilities. All dance students have the opportunity to perform at one of their bi-annual shows and also enter regular competitions and examinations. Classes will be held on Friday evenings and Saturdays throughout the school year.
