Tutors

Linda Griffiths Director of Bitesize Youth Theatre
BA (hons) Creative arts PGCE(Dance/Drama) Post graduate certificate in Directing.
Linda has been lucky enough to have worked in the theatre for over 25 years. For 10 years she was Director of Children's Theatre for Theatr Clwyd. She has
choreographed and directed about 60 musicals and over 120 plays at Theatr Clwyd, Gateway, Action Transport, Newcastle Vic, Stoke Rep, Edinburgh Festival,
West End and for Bitesize where she has been Artistic Director for 15 years.
A qualified teacher of dance and drama for 25 years she teaches a range of classes at Youth Theatre and directs and choreographs the main shows and the
Musical Theatre Festival groups. She was recognised for her work with Reactivate with Scottish Power/Manweb's Community Person of the Year in 2001.
Dance specialists
Jennifer Catherall
Started training as a dancer at the age of 4 at the Elsbeth School of Dance. She took an AVCE in Performing Arts at Mold Alun, before going on to study Dance to
degree level, BA(hons), in Crewe. While at University, Jennifer worked at the YMCA Foyer in Crewe teaching dance to vulnerable adults between 16 and 30, as well
as taking workshops for a wider age range. Jennifer has also appeared in a number of amateur productions including "Sweeney Todd", "Les Miserables" and
"Cinderella"
Laura Roberts.
Laura trained at Phil Winston's Theatreworks in Musical Theatre and qualified as a Dance Teacher for ISTA and Performing Arts. Laura has appered in many
professional shows including "Joseph & his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat", "Evita", "Wind in the Willows" as well as a variety of Band Tributes and Pantomimes
across the North West.
Music Specialists
Norma Rowles GNSM (Northern School of Music), MEd (Bangor), LRAM (Singing Teacher Diploma)
An ex Opera singer and Head of Music, Norma studied music, majoring in Singing teaching and performance at the Northern School of Music in Manchester. She has
worked extensively as a performer singing solo roles in many musicals and light operas and as a Vocal Coach on a large number of musicals and operettas across
the North West. Norma has taught for 35 years and now teaches singing at Bitesize and has been Vocal Coach for the Ugly Duckling and Musical Extravaganza as
well as teaching on summer schools. She has coached the Musical Theatre Festival group to the finals of many competitions and taken them to the Symphony Hall in
Birmingham.
Tim Jones BMus, PGCE
Tim graduated from UNCW, Bangor. From 1990 - 2006 he was Head of Music in secondary schools in Shropshire and Cheshire but is now in charge of A level music
at Yale College, Wrexham. He has been Musical Director for many local musical societies, most notably Tip Top Productions in shows as diverse as Annie, La Cage
Aux Folles, Oliver!, The Sound of Music, Godspell, My Fair Lady, Cabaret, Dick Whittington, A Chorus Line, Honk! and The Full Monty. He taught singing at Chester
Stagecoach Theatre Arts School for many years, and has been children's chorus master for the professional tours of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
in Crewe, Rhyl, Manchester, Llandudno and Liverpool, Whistle Down the Wind in Llandudno and Manchester and Jesus Christ Superstar and Scrooge in Manchester.
He has also worked with Castaway, a youth music theatre company, who performed Copacabana, West Side Story and Pirates of Penzance at the Gateway Theatre,
Chester.
Caroline Morris BMus Hons, DipRCM (PG)
Caroline was born in Chirk, and was an exhibition scholar and prizewinner at the Royal College of Music, where she studied saxophone with Kyle Horch and the late
Stephen Trier. From 1993-2000 she enjoyed critical recital and broadcasting success as a founder member of the saxophone quartet Saxploitation, and in the 1996
Park Lane Group Young Artists' Series at the Purcell Room, London. Since then, Caroline has performed extensively in touring and regional musical theatre,
including the 2002 UK tour of Singin' In The Rain and in 2004, the UK tour of Crazy For You. Caroline has taught at the London College of Music and Media in
London and in France. Since her return to Wrexham in 2006, Caroline has been accompanist to the Cantorion Rhos, and to the Fron Male Voice Choir. She is in
demand locally as an adjudicator, accompanist, and performer for local shows, as well as teaching.
Drama specialists
Sarah Giles
Sarah trained at Worcester College of HE graduating with a BA in English, Music and Drama, before going on to NE Worcestershire College to do her Teaching
Certificates. She has worked in Schools, in Colleges and at the Helen O'Grady Theatre Academy as a Drama Teacher, and for five years she was the Education and
Arts Officer for the Palace Theatre in Redditch running a 100 strong Youth Theatre and producing shows including The Wizard of Oz, The Chrysalids, Bugsy Malone
and Daisy Pulls it Off. Sarah also works at the Hammond School teaching Drama. In her spare time Sarah can be seen treating the boards as a member of
Mikrokosmos Theatre Company and Grove Park Little Theatre.
Lisa Ford
Lisa trained at Manchester Metropolitan University graduating with a BA in Creative Arts, majoring in Drama. She has taught Drama in a variety of settings for the past
fifteen years, including on Theatr Clwyd summer courses and at The Hammond School in Chester, where she taught A level Theatre Studies and ran the schools
Outreach Drama course from 2003-2009. She has run a number of Drama workshops in local schools and community venues and worked closely with disabled young
adults in Winsford. Away from work Lisa has been involved with her local amateur dramatics society and performed with Mikrokosmos Theatre Company. She is an
active member of her local Rural Touring Network group.
Support Staff
Our caring support staff who help to take care of the practical and social needs of Bitesize Youth Theatre.
Jo Hall
Jo is particularly involved in all Stage management aspects of Bitesize Youth theatre sourcing props, building scenery, assisting with rehearsals. She has been a driving
force in us achieving the new theatre. She has trained through Wrexham Children's University for first degree level - Volunteers for Active Community. Jo is also on the
steering committee.
Jo Street
Jo is particularly involved in all Costume aspects of Bitesize cutting sewing fitting etc etc etc as well as running the tuck shop with Ann. She led a team of volunteer Mums
for the "King and I" and "Fiddler on the Roof" for the making of costumes and the decorative hangings and upholstery, cushion covers etc. Jo is also on the steering
committee.
Fiona Norman
Fiona has an NVQ (level3) in Early Years Childcare and has been helping in Bitesize for 3 years. She was backstage during Fiddler and Pirates with wardrobe.
Ali McBain
Ali started Drama at age 8, taking part in Grove Park productions and Pantos . She joined Bitesize, two years ago assisting in Casting Classes and helping backstage,
doing hair and makeup during Fiddler and Pirates. She also one of our registered Chaperones for the children when they perform in the professional shows. Ali is a
Registered Nurse.
Michelle Lewis
Michelle became involved with Bitesize as a parent/helper about in 2004. She has assisted with hair, make-up and costumes on many of the Youth Theatre productions
including Fiddler on the Roof, Pirates and Oklahoma!. Michelle is also one of our registered Chaperones for the children when they perform in Professional shows.
Ann Powell
Ann has been responsible for administration for a number of years originally for our classes at Grango , then at the Stiwt and now at our Rhosddu base. Ann is secretary
for the steering committee and an integral member of the team. She was recognised for her work with special needs children as a trustee of Reactivate with Scottish
Power/Manweb's Community Person of the Year Award in 2006
Adam Pankard
Adam studied Dance and Theatre at A Level in Wrexham before going to London to study for a BA(hons) in Acting for Stage and Media. Having found it difficult to get his
'break', Adam has returned to Wrexham and currently assists in Youth Theatre Classes while saving up to continue his studies. Adam hopes to gain his MA and then
become a Children's TV Presenter.
Phil Gallimore
Phil has been helping out at Bitesize since 2006. He has assisted in many aspects of the backstage support for Youth Theatre Productions mainly in the building of
Scenery and Props. He has also been heavily involved in the interior construction of the Groundlings Theatre, including joinery, plastering and general building work.
Douglas Norman
Sue Huyton
Sue Huyton has been involved on the edges of Bitesize since her son joined in 2006. She always wanted to be in the theatre but a different calling got in the way! She is
a founding member of the adult class and has completed a B Tech in Performing Arts alongside the young people. She was involved backstage in props for Oklahoma
and does her best to get publicity in the local press for Bitesize.
David Huyton
David Huyton has been involved since 2006. He is Akela to the local Cubs and Chair of Governors in Gwersyllt CP. He is one of the Car Park Supremos during shows and
can also be seen helping out with practical jobs and moving scenery
Dianne Burton
Dianne has now retired after 39 years teaching in Primary Schools. She has a particular interest in Children with Special Needs, but helps out where ever she is needed,
whether it be assisting in lessons, sewing or running Tuck Shop.
Lisa Buchanan
BITESIZE currently runs a total of 23 hours a week of Youth Theatre classes in the Wrexham area during term time; as well as Summer Schools, Easter and Half-term courses and two productions annually. We are looking for tutors to help deliver this.
£6.00 to £15.00 per hour according to experience/qualifications
If you live locally, have Dance, Drama or Music training, particularly as a teacher, then we would like to hear from you.
Teaching Qualification OR experience in the Arts essential. Successful applicants will be required to pass a CRB check in accordance with the Protection of Children Act.

In order to be successful, you must be able to make your own way, each day of the work experience to one of our base on the Rhosddu Industrial Estate, Rhosrobin, Wrexham. [We are sorry, but we are not able to make any contribution to your accommodation or travel costs.]
Please note: You will be given a variety of tasks during the period of work and may be offered the opportunity to observe the Company during rehearsals. You will NOT be given any opportunity to perform.
